At chapter 23. Pent and Louise are incredibly amusing, and cute, and it's about time I see a happily married couple in a game that doesn't suffer some kind of tragedy! I guess you get Zealot/Juno in FE6, but I didn't take the Ilia route, so I didn't get to see that - and anyway, shame on me, I never used Zealot. In FE10 I think Callil and... and I can't remember his name, but I guess that's another one, and it's too bad I didn't use them either! :D
Desmond and Hellene are NOT a happily married couple, though, wow. That was quite a conversation they had, there. Too bad I don't have a script to quote. (My favorite part was Hellene's jab at his mistress and Guinevere. :D) Hellene's talk about the proud blood of Etruria, paired with the incident during Lyn's story in which that marquess refuses to help her because she looks Sacean, underline more what
searains was saying in a previous comment thread about racism in the Elibe universe. To me, the Lyn incident seemed like more of an isolated situation than a microcosm of a widespread opinion, because rumor had it the marquess disliked Sacae purely because he had a thing for Lyn's mother and resented that she ran off with a nomad. It's not played the same way, so to speak, as the division between Laguz and Beorc in the Tellius universe, though that was also heavy-handed in a lot of places. The prejudice against the Branded was handled better.
Also, none of the main characters make a big deal about it. In the Tellius games there are several ally characters who express disgust for the opposite race, and it's rampant among the enemy forces, of course - and even with the NPCs. I suppose the system of visiting houses for information/items on the battlefield doesn't lend itself well as a tool to express this, since the purpose is to transmit tips etc. regardless of which character visits.
Anyway. I'm supporting Eliwood and Ninian because it's just so obvious, and it'd be ridiculous to ignore. Lyn and Florina are my choice, also, because they're just so cute, and I want their friendship ending. I still have this unreasonable urge to write about them, and I haven't even finished the game yet. >_> I'm sure a ton of people have already explored the ideas I want to, but I guess I'll do it anyway. If I try to wade through all of the entries for Lyn on FF.Net, for example, it's going to take me forever-- and I'll probably get a lot of romance, which I can take or leave, honestly, at least for her. I like her fierce independence. It may seem odd, but I think she's more suited to going back to the plains on her own.
Lucius and Raven have an A support, and... hm, I had Hector and Eliwood supporting until I decided to stop fighting the inevitable, and their B support conversation was very interesting. XD I think that's all I've done in terms of supporting characters - I considered Erk and Serra, since I use both of them all the time, but it'd be a pain now. And-- talk about a pairing I can't really see. It doesn't hit me from any of their conversations. Pricilla seems way more likely.
Also, I'm sure the slash part of the fandom will kill me, but I think I prefer Raven and Lucius as friends, not lovers. :P You know, in the LOTR style of friendship. XD
